Laser Dentistry FAQs

What is the Solea laser?
The Solea CO2 laser has been a great addition to our practice. The Solea allows us to perform many dental procedures by vaporizing decay, tooth structure and soft tissue without having to numb with shots. It avoids having to use a dental drill and once a procedure is completed a patient will not experience post operative numbness.
The Solea laser is safe and can be used for both baby and permanent teeth. In my experience, the laser works great on older children (6yrs and up), however those that require sedation or are very young, may have a hard time with laser dentistry.
Why do we offer Laser dentistry?
We are the first office in Hawaii to own multiple Solea lasers. We offer this service because we are able to perform dental procedures such as fillings without numbing and soft tissue procedures without stitching. Not having a numb a child has many benefits that include being able to eat right away and preventing cheek/lip bites. Patients can go back to school or attend their extracurricular activities right after their dental procedures.
We use the Solea for our tongue and lip tie removals. In most instances there is no bleeding or sutures required which reduces the post operative healing time. And this is great alternative for patients who have an extreme anxiety towards shots.
