With thousands of tongue tie procedures performed over the years, you will feel comfortable and confident knowing that we have the experience to safely treat your infant or child. Our office uses the state-of-the-art CO2 laser which makes this a quick procedure that has little to no bleeding. As a father who has performed this on my children, I can guide you every step along the way.
A majority of tongue tie procedures in our office are to address breastfeeding and if this is the case, it is never too early to have it evaluated. In fact, timing is one of the most important factors in achieving successful breastfeeding.
Parenting can be extremely stressful. It becomes stressful when your baby wakes up every hour at night, constantly needs to be consoled during the day because of colic symptoms, keeps spitting up or swallowing air, and/or has increased gas after feeding. It is also stressful when mother experiences extreme pain while nursing and the list goes on and on. Some pediatricians or lactation consultants will avoid talking about the tongue tie/breastfeeding relationship especially if your baby is gaining weight, so many parents that brought their babies to our office have come on their own by doing their own research. Feel reassured to know that I am a parent, want you to be comfortable with the decision, and the procedure is always 100% optional.
Tongue ties can also affect older children and play a role in eating/sleeping disorders. It can cause jaw development problems such as underbites or very narrow/small arches that leads to very crooked teeth. If jaw problems do occur, with our knowledge and ability to perform orthodontics, we are able to correct these problems at an early and ideal age. Our office performs these non-related breastfeeding corrections for patients who are in our practice – we will not treat patients who are established with another dentist.
Please do not hesitate to call our office for an exam if you would like to have your child’s tongue tie evaluated.
